Hi everyone, long time no speak!
I have no idea how many people will even see this post, but I just wanted to write a few words to say that the Clan’s website has been majorly overhauled and updated. Out is the old insecure, outdated and (mostly) handmade code, links and menus etc., and in is a new layout, with some nods to the old website, and an entirely modern back-end. Everything is also now integrated under one system which will make maintenance so much easier. I’ve even gone to the lengths of switching to a more local website host, to hopefully make things a bit speedier.

Old ‘news’ and forum posts
You’ll notice that all of the blog posts from the old site have been carried over. While a lot of them are very out of date now, I couldn’t bring myself to start totally from scratch. Hopefully I/we can add new ones as time goes on.
Likewise, all of the posts from the old forum have been migrated over to the new site. Again, a lot of them won’t be very relevant any more, but I couldn’t delete them. Some old forum sections that were never used have been removed though.

Logins & Usernames
Your old usernames have also been migrated over. Passwords have been reset, so you’ll need to use the ‘forgotten password’ link on the login screen so that a new one can be emailed to you. If your email address has changed since you last used the clan site, let me know and I can register your manually. If you have any issues do please let me know by emailing: admin ‘at’ bddclan ‘dot’ co ‘dot’ uk.

New Features
There are a couple of new features, some of which are still being tested and haven’t been rolled out yet. Others may still cause issues.
For one, there’s a new chat window that has replaced the old one that used to be at the bottom of the forum page. You’ll find it floating around in the bottom right hand corner of the site. If you do open it without being logged in you’ll be assigned a random ‘guest’ name which you’ll be asked to change should you try to enter anything in the chat room. You can also change it to your own in the chat window’s settings. Just click on the cog and then the pencil next to your name.

Everything else is still a bit of a work in progress, but if you do encounter any problems just shout!

Why bother?!
Now, I know when the old site was having security “issues” I said that I didn’t have the time to maintain the website, and I’m sure you’re wondering why I bothered to create a new one, especially considering that the clan doesn’t realy exist anymore. To be honest it’s ‘cos I’m a nerd. This sorta thing is fun for me. Besides, creating a new website was a shit load easier than continuously having to chase away hackers and plug the holes in a site that was, effectively, nearly a decade out of date. Hopefully this new site will be more robust.
I’m also a nostalgic twat who can’t let BdD die out completely. If this new website goes some way to get people talking again, let alone maybe a bit of gaming, then great.

Enjoy, and thanks,
Hand / Justin
